Introduction of L.S.L laying hen breed

Toyoor Barekat Company having half -century experience in producing day-old layer and broiler chickens is one of the largest companies which has a major share of Iranian market. By knowing L.S.L breed advantages and disadvantages, the company decided to import the breed from Germany in 2005, aiming to upgrade their products quality and regarding consumers’ satisfaction from the breed, country needs and the experiences of the past years in the field of breeding different strains of Leghorn including Hisex, DeKalb, Babcock, Queensway, Hyline, and Bones.

L.S. L breed is the outcome of the recent scientific researches of LOHMANN co. which has been introduced to Iran's market with the aim of improving conversion coefficient, better durability, and high efficiency and because of its very high adaptability with Iran's climate condition. To the foregoing reasons, this breed has been able to satisfy chicken farm owners and achieve a significant contribution of Iranian egg market in a short period of time by relying on its genetic capacity and high efficiency.

Now enjoying their half a century experience in breeding various Leghorn flocks and choosing the best breed, the company is able to supply high quality L.S.L day-old layer breeder chicks, day-old commercial chicks and three-month laying pullets.

The maximum production (peak production) : 97%

The weight of each egg box at the beginning of the production : 9-9.5 kg

The number of eggs produced per capita in 14 months : 370-380 PCs

The number of eggs produced per capita in 16 months : 410-420 PCs

  L.S. L breed advantages

High rate of egg production

This breed has been able to gain all of its competitors and make new records in the pullet industry by having a long shelf-life within the peak production and delivering 415 to 420 pieces or 25 to 26 kg of eggs for every chicken in 16 months of production. Compared with other breeds, the production rate of L.S. L breed can be seen in this chart:

Excellent conversion coefficient of L.S. L breed

The conversion coefficient of grain to egg (rate of grain consumption to produce one kilogram of eggs) in L.S. L laying hens is equivalent to 2 to 2.1 and this means that in comparison to other breeds, this breed produces more eggs in exchange for equal amount of grains.

The following diagram shows this comparison:

L.S.L Laying breeder adaptability with Iran climate

This breed provides full adaptability with different climatic conditions, in particular the Middle East ecology by relying on its genetic characteristics.

Over 85% of day old chicks of the Middle East countries such as Kuwait, Sudan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, Egypt and Iraq are supplied of L.S. L breed. The following chart shows the market of L.S. L breed among the Middle East countries.

Appropriate egg shell strength of L.S. L breed

The shell of L.S.L eggs with 40 Newton resistance  is genetically very resistant to impacts and this led to reduce fracture and wasting during transferring eggs from the source to the destination so, in comparison with other breeds, the amount of the product to be sold are increasing dramatically.

The percent of egg breakage is 1 to 1.5 percent less than other breeds in the process of producing, gathering and packing which shows a significant advantage of L.S. L breed in having the proper thickness and good egg shell strength .

The production of day-old layer breeder chicks

Toyoor Barekat Production Company by selecting the superior and full production L.S.L breed and receiving breeding license from 2010 has been imported the ancestor breed from Lohmann Company, bred them and produced layer breeder flocks. Regarding appropriate facilities and equipment, the company is now considering to export breeder flocks to the neighboring countries. With regard to the specific conditions of breeding mentioned flocks, and by considering all of the health issues one unit has been established in Qazvin province in a mountainous area.

Production of Commercial day- old laying chicks

This group activities include breeding layer breeder flocks and producing commercial hanged sperm eggs. This Group has production capacity of 15, 000, 000 commercial laying chicks per year and more than 30% of the total production of day-old laying chicks of the country. This group has two hatchery units in Mirpanji area of Qazvin province.

Breeding day-old laying chicks (pullet)

The activity of this group is production of commercial laying chicken, which can be distributed and delivered to the egg producers after 90 days regarding the conditions of breeding. Annual production capacity of this group is about 5 million pieces of pullet, which part of them is for egg production in our units, another part is delivered to other producers in the country and the rest is exporting to the neighbor countries.

The production of edible eggs

Annual production capacity of eggs in this group is over 57,000 tons and as one of the largest producers of egg has a considerable country's market share.

The production of day-old broiler chicken

Another product of this group is broiler breeder chicken. This group has a major share of the broiler chicken market with the annual production capacity of 160,000 pieces of broiler breeders and 15-17 million pieces of day-old broiler chicks.

Production of various agricultural products (wheat, barley, etc.)

This is one of the subsidiaries of Barekat production group which includes husbandry unit, No. 2 unit and agricultural unit.

In these units, the existing area for crop cultivation during a crop year is as follows:

Wheat 100 hectares

Barley 40 hectares

Hay 45 hectares

Corn 90 hectares

annually about 500 tons of wheat, 200 tons of barley, 700 tons of hay and 5000 tons of corn have been harvested which part of them are our units requirements, and the rest has a small share in producing  agricultural products of the country, hope it can  provide more self sufficiency due to the agricultural production rate in the country.
